Castell Coch

Roedd yr haul yn tywynu a’r adar yn canu bore ddoe, felly dyma fi allan drwy giat y neuadd yn meddwl mynd am spin 20 munud ar y beic….. a wedyn yn beicio yr holl ffordd i Castell Coch! (Ia ok, mond chwech milltir bob ffordd dio felly dio myn lot riiili ond oni dal yn reit smug am y peth!). Dwi ‘di bod yn bwriadu mynd ers oes, a doeddwn i ddim isho troi nol unwaith i fi gychwyn, felly carpe diem am wn i! // It was a gorgeous sunny day yesterday, so I sacrificed my Sunday lie-in for what I thought would be a 20 minute bike ride… which turned into a trip to Castell Coch! It’s probably not that far reeeally, but I was very proud of myself since it’s a good six miles! (Though I was a very vivid shade of magenta by the time I got up the hill to the castle…) I’ve been meaning to go since September, and it was one of those days where it was hard to stop going… Capre diem I suppose!

Dim ond beiro oedd gen i efo fi, ond fe wneshi chydig o sketchio beth bynnag – dwi’n ofnadwy am luniadu adeiladu, a dio myn anodd gweld lle nashi golli mynadd a chodi pac, ond dyma ni beth bynnag: // I only had a pen with me to draw, but it would’ve been stupid to come all the way to such a beautiful piece of architecture then not draw anything. They’re very quick sketches and you can sort of tell that I eventually just gave up but here they are:

Tymor dwythaf roedd angen i ni weithio mewn grwp fel rhan o’r modiwl “Maes”, sy’n annog cydweithio efo artistiaid eraill mewn gwahanol ardaloedd o gelf. Dyma’r gwaith y cynhyrchodd ein grwp ni. Y briff oedd i greu set o boteli crog ar y them “Cardydd”. Mae’r poteli i gyd wedi’u sandblastio a’u trawsdori. // Last term we had a module called “Field”, in which we collaborated with students from other Art and Design departments in the university. This is the work our group produced. The brief was to produce sandblasted hanging lights based on the theme of Cardiff.

Cafodd pob un ohonym ni adilad adnabyddus yr un i seilio ein dyluniadau arnynt – Dewisais i Gadeirlan Llandaf, a chreu dyluniadau abstract wedi’u seilio ar y ffenestri. Dyma luniau o’r gwaith ar ei hanner // We all chose a building in Cardiff on which to base our designs – I decided to concentrate on the abstract patterns of Llandaf Cathedral’s windows. Here are some progress shots:

Fe wnes i gyfres o brintiau leino wedi’u seilio ar y gerdd “Hon” gan TH Parry-Williams ar ddiwedd y tymor dwythaf (esgusodwch y camsillafu!). Roeddwn i’n edrych ar agweddau tuag at y Gymraeg fel iaith lleafrifol, yn dilyn ymweliad ysgwydol a Kilmainham Gaol yn Nulyn. // For my last project last term I produced a series of lino prints on the theme of attitudes towards the Welsh language. The final prints are based on the poem “Hon” by TH Parry-Williams. thecuriousastronomer.wordpress.com posted a good english translation of the poem here.

…Lunatique…

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Yn dilyn lot o lusgo nhraed a swnian gan dad, dwi wedi dechra blog o’r diwedd! Bwriad y blog ydi cadw cofnod o’r hyn-llall-ac-arall dwi’n ei wneud, ond hefyd i fi gael sgwennu ryw chydig yn Gymraeg. Mae gen i flog arall fel rhan o fy nghwrs, ond uniaith Saesneg ydi hwnnw, a mae’n tueddu i deimlo’n pretentious yn amlach na pheidio! Celf fydd prif ffocws y blog ‘ma, ond dwi’n siwr o fwydro rhiw chydig hefyd!

Dyma ddarn wnes i ar ol dod nol i Gaerdydd ar ol ‘Dolig. Darn personol ydi o, wedi’i ysbrydoli gan y gan Lunatique gan Margaux Avril. Paent dyfrlliw ac inc ar bapur.

After months of procrastinating and being badgered by my father, I’ve finally started a personal blog! It’s just a small way to keep a track of the things I get up to, but it’s also a chance for me to write a personal blog – I already write a blog as part of my course at university, but it can feel a bit pretentious and I can’t talk about any work apart from what I’ve done specifically for the course. Art will be my main focus, but I’m sure to ramble about various tidbits!

This is a personal piece, inspired by the song Lunatique by Margaux Avril. Watercolour and ink on paper.
